East Side Gallery

I don't want to photo bomb you all or upload my full photo album from the Berlin Wall / East Side Gallery as I feel it might spoilt it for those who want to visit the attraction. So I have picked my favourite few photos from the gallery to share with you all.

The East Side Gallery is an international memorial for freedom. It is a 1.3 km long section of the Berlin Wall located near the centre of Berlin on Mühlenstraße in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The actual border at this point was the river Spree. The gallery is located on the so-called "hinterland mauer", which closed the border to East Berlin.

Such an amazing place and I'm so lucky I got the chance to visit the East Side Gallery.

Birthday in Berlin

I know I must of mentioned a 100 times about my birthday plans but this weekend it was finally time to head of to Berlin to see One Direction. It has been an amazing weekend and Berlin is such an amazing city.

As the plane flew over Berlin upon arrival the view of the city was stunning

Since we landed at 10'o'clock in the morning and couldn't check into the hotel until 3pm we took a taxi to the city centre and had a walk about.

It didn't take us long to find all the landmarks and we was surprised ourself when we came across Brandenburg Gate so quickly.

I think one thing that everybody gets excited about is seeing shops and food outlets we don't have in the UK hence my excitement at seeing at Dunkin' Donuts and a Haagen Dazs ice cream parlour. In fact I think we noticed the Haagen Daze shop before we noticed Brandenburg Gate. I have since been informed Haagen Daze is in fact from New-York not Germany what I was rather shocked at.

After we finally checked in to the hotel we had time for a nap after been up about 36 hours. We then headed out to party. Berlin defiantly had some amazing night-life.

The next morning we headed of to find an underground station walking down what seemed a perfectly normal street we was a little shocked when all of a sudden we came across Charlottenburg Palace. The pictures really don't do this building justice.

We then went gift shopping ...... in a local Aldi.

After a busy morning it was finally time to head of to O2 World Berlin to see One Direction. The arena was opposite the East Side Gallery so we was lucky that we didn't have to spend too long looking for both. (I have taken lots of photos at the East Side Gallery but I will save this for another post)

Sunday morning we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. I must admit to you all here we did that very British thing when leaving a hotel on the last day: We convinced ourselves during the journey from the hotel to the airport we would starve to death and therefore packed muffins and bagels into our handbags (please say it's not just me who does this?). I must say the hotel had a lovely outside dining area by the river with such an amazing view.

We then headed of to Berlin Zoo.

Blog every day in May day 7

The things I'm most afraid of:

I think most people would add death quite highly to this list however I wouldn't say death is something I fear. In fact the quote Live Fast Die Young springs to mind rather quickly here. I would say having a boring life is more my fear. This year I have constantly been trying to keep myself busy and always ensuring I have something to look forward to, whether this be buying gig tickets or planning a small day out with friends to looking to book holidays and adventures.  I think I'm more fearful of wasting my youth or letting time pass by too quickly.

Secondly moving on to a more common fear I will admit I am terrified of dogs. Well not all dogs, if its a dog I know I rather like the little fluff balls, more a fear of stray dogs. This has even become so bad that I won't walk through certain areas if it's likely I will see a stray dog. I also don't like walking near garden gates as I fear a dog jumping out at me. Or jumping over the gate a chewing my arm of!!

What are your fears?

My Bank Holiday

First bit of sun! Rock the RayBans with Cocktail!

 Outfit of the day:
T-Shirt - Republic
Shorts - Topshop (old)
Shoes - Newlook (old)

 View from The Alchemist Leeds.

Monday was time for a simple family BBQ.

Couldn't miss out this little feller, Think he ate most of the sausages.

I think its fair to say this weekend summer arrived. I always think May seems to have the nicest weather, as my birthday is in May (11th, not long now) I have noticed the past few years I have had very warm birthdays. I would say May is my favourite month 2 bank holidays my birthday and who could forget May the 4th be with you. (sorry I'm rambling now).

This bank holiday for me I spent Friday staying in where I ended up making an impulse purchase of 2 pairs of Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I think this was the only time in my life I checked my bank balance before buying something and I was rather proud of myself for doing so. (lean in close. whispers: psst they was a bargain at £65 each).

Saturday I spent a rather long time looking looking in every shop in Leeds for a nice hat. Since I can't afford my hair doing until pay day I had the option stay in bank holiday Sunday or buy a hat!! I decided to buy this trilby from Topshop, what in the end I didn't wear as I changed my outfit choice. Typical eh? I then headed of to watch some local bands.

Sunday of any bank holiday means one big night out! (or day) If your from Leeds then you will understand there is only one place to be. The courtyard party! Since we got there rather late unfortunately we couldn't get in. boo hoo. So we did the next best thing and went to the bar next door and spied through the barriers #saddos, before moving on to possibly every other bar in Leeds. I would recommend The Alchemist it has the most amazing views.

Finally Monday was spent the 2nd way bank holidays are intended for, a nice family BBQ. Since my vegetarian dad likes to take control of the BBQ this usually means enjoying some nice charged burgers. Today I also thought I was witnessing witch craft when my dad managed to extinguish the BBQ with lighter fluid!!

How was your bank holiday?
