Trip to York and Scarborough part 2

Scarborough:

When we finally arrived in Scarborough we was all super hungry and headed for the first cafe we set eyes on. I ordered a breakfast wrap and had a slice of malteaser cake after. Once all our bellies were nice and full we all set of for a walk along the coast. As i'm from Leeds the sight of sand isn't a regular occurrence, this lead me to say out loud  "why is there sand on my shoe!"  After my friends laughed at me we set of.

Been typical of myself i hadn't dressed very weather appropriate and had to cheekily borrow my friends gloves for the day.(The sun was shining but it was still very nippy) Once i was slightly warmer we all set of to find the mini golf. Unfortunately the mini golf was closed so we opted for a walk up the cliffs. The view from the top of the cliffs was stunning and it was refreshing to finally have a sense of peace of quite giving me time to reflect away from daily life. After we all sat up to the top of the cliffs chatting we headed over to the south bay to the amusements. No trip to the seaside would be complete without playing on some 2p machines. After the nicest ice cream ever (rhubarb and crumble flavor) we headed to back home. Luckily were all heading back this weekend for a camping trip. Yippiee.

Trip to York and Scarborough part 1

 York:

Since we have recently seen the first few rays of sunshine of the year and me and a few friends decided we would make the most of it and so we hopped on the coast-liner bus. We had originally planned on getting the train over to Scarborough however i was glad we took the bus, not only was it cheaper (it was £15 each for a freedom ticket what aloud us to use the coat-liner buses all day just hop on and off) but we also had time to fit in a little trip round York on the way.

I love the city of York its filled with cute boutique shops, restaurants and bars along the river and the city itself is filled with such history.

We didn't have much time in York so as soon as we spotted we could rent a boat we all quickly hurried down to the river, hired out a boat (£25 for half an hour) pretended to be pirates, drank some JD (we didn't have any rum) sailed around York and came back. (I didn't make a very good pirate, before boat had even been untied i started the engine and tried to set off causing the boat to swing round and crash into the wall). There was just enough time to climb up Clifford's towers before been told to get down by a rather angry tourist attraction lady. We then hopped back onto the bus and headed for Scarborough.

Through Douglas's Eyes

Hello everyone, its me Douglas. Sammie says you all loved me last time and i must say i loved meeting you all too. So here i am again making my 2nd appearance. Please don't judge the dark photos, the flash hurts my eyes.

So this Saturday i took a little trip to the bookies and placed a bet for the Grand National. I was very excited for the race as i love watching horses on the TV. This is the 3rd Grand National i have watched and i find it all very exciting. I sat and wagged my tail the whole way through the race. I was also very happy that no horses was hurt this year.

Sky Bar Leeds

I recently paid a visit to Sky Bar in Leeds. This had been on my to do list for some time and i must admit i was a little disappointed by the service, however the bar does have some plus points.

The bar is situated on the top floor of the Doubletree hotel at the granary wharf in Leeds. The entrance to the bar is by the elevator and the lift opens straight into the bar what adds a sophisticated James Bond type feel to the place. The only plus i can give to the bar is the view, it probably has the best views in Leeds what is kind of expected been on the top floor of a hotel. Other then the view i really didn't rate the bar much at all, the service was exceptionally slow the wait at the bar took ages. The bar staff also seemed rather rude and seem to avoid making eye contact with all the customers waiting, the wait wouldn't of bothered me as much if the staff had the decency to smile at the customers instead of trying to shy away from everybody. The drinks prices are on the expensive side however there was a good rang of drinks on offer and the price was reasonable given the location of the bar etc. What i didn't find acceptable was the fact all the menu's on the bar was sticky and falling apart, in addition to this there was lots of empty glasses on the tables what no one seemed to be collecting. Overall the bar is worth a visit for the views but based on the service i wouldn't say i was impressed.

You're never too old to. Part 4 of 5

So if you read my previous post growing up gracefully it got me thinking, as much as i'm embracing the slow decent into adulthood what is avoidable, there are some thing i can still get away with doing. In fact i'm calling these things you're never too old to do and have created this mini series of post for you to enjoy. Welcome to part 4 of 5 in this blog series.
P.S I will be posting one every Wednesday, y'know because Wednesday's are the most boring day of the week. (i think so anyway).

No 4

Bibis Leeds

Bibis restaurant Leeds

Bibis restaurant Leeds

Bibis restaurant Leeds

Bibis restaurant Leeds

Everyone seems to always tell me Bibis is a fantastic restaurant, so why it took me so long to finally visit was beyond me. I must say the restaurant really deserves all the praise it gets. If you have read my previous restaurant reviews i can be a little picky however i really couldn't pick any fault at all. Walking into the restaurant i loved the decor in my eyes it had a feel of a 1920's cabaret show, my friends didn't agree with me but either way the decor of the place is very elegant and beautiful. The table had a 45 minuet wait what aloud some time to have a drink. We ordered a  bottle of a champagne (well sparkling wine) between the 3 of us, what was very reasonably priced at £25.50. The 45 minuet wait seemed to pass quickly and not before long we was shown to our table. One little detail that did impress me was that the table was set neatly for 3 people (not for 4 people with a chair missing). The waiter came and took our order, i had:

Caprino dorato com miele e noci - Baked goats cheese with honey, toasted walnuts and balsamic roast peppers. £7.75 (starter)

Tortellini di carne con panna e prosciutto - Beef filled fresh pasta parcels in cream, parmesan and parma ham. £10.75 (main course)

The starter was delicious and even looking at the photo makes me drool. you all know by now i have a love of cheese (that sounds very weird saying it out loud) so the starter was an obvious choice but it really was divine. The main course was very nice and the pasta was well cooked the portion was a little large for me to finish, although i'm not going to complain about that. The waiters was also very attentive and gave excellent service. I now have a new favorite restaurant and i'm already planning my next visit.
