Outfit of the day | Missguided co-ord

When I was looking for an outfit for the #BloggersBlogAwards I knew I wanted something which would see myself through from a day time event to the evening. Whilst I'm not saying this is typical day time dressing, I simply fell in love with this buckle detail cropped top and cigarette pants co-ord from Missguided and knew I had to have it. Plus the best thing with buying a co-ord outfit is I can mix and match the top and trousers for future looks.

The bloggers awards were held at the gorgeous event space at Lamberts Yard in Leeds. Which as Laura found out, also has the perfect corridor with the best light ever for a cheeky #ootd photo shoot. . I'll be posting about the awards soon so stay tuned.

Dressing for autumn

The leaves are falling from the trees, the dark nights are drawing in earlier and the clocks are soon to go back. Yet amongst the cold dark nights during autumn come the spectacular bonfires, late night shopping (Christmas lights been switch on!) and a chance to pull out your pre-loved favourite winter coats and autumnal accessories.

Personally for me dressing for autumn is a mix of learning how to make my summer clothes warmer and digging out the previous years winter clothes. It's not quite time for a new winter shop and it always feels as if I've not quite got full use from my summer wardrobe, in fact does anyone make full use of their summer wardrobe here in the UK? Hence the mix match style, which can work quite well with a little thought.

Although the photos aren't great (we all know the struggle with limited natural light) this outfit perfectly sums up autumn dressing for myself. A summer skirt paired with a long sleeve tshirt, summer converse and warm black tights and a chance to dig out my old winter cape. Of course I teamed the outfit with my favourite new leather satchel and berry coloured lipstick which I feels ties the look together perfectly.

St Leger Ladies day Doncaster

I'm pretty certain that any girl, if offered the chance to: dress up in her "special occasion dress" dress, drink champagne, hang out with the girlies for a day, indulge in a three course meal and of course have a cheeky little flutter on the horses, wouldn't say no, right?

Well I certainly did not say no, to a day out at Doncaster race course for the St Leger Ladies day, courtesy of Ladbrokes.

The outfits...and of course all the hats!! are seriously on fleek when it comes to ladies day. Skipping past the fact I actually just said "on fleek" it's certainly a day for those of us who love people watching. Everyone looks so flamboyant, I certainly felt a little lost without a hat, although since I got the 3rd chance to wear my favourite blue dress (and not so favourited sucky in pants) I still felt ohh so sophisticated. Plus I may have "borrowed" Lucy's rather brilliant pink hat later on in the day.

Once everyone arrived everyone was treated to a 3 course meal. All the options looked delicious but I settled on the pork belly for starter, tuna for main (the lighter option as i knew I couldn't resist the fried brie for desert), although more conventional options included lemon tart. Which I may also have had a little taste of. Although after all the food, I felt my best pick of the day was the sucky in pants.

After lunch it was time to place your bets! Obviously my method of picking horses is something rather complex. Hours of studying previous races, testing the weather conditions on the day....and obviously picking them all by the best name.

We all watched from the terrace, sipping Pimms and cheering on the horses. Although since I forgot my glasses I had no idea which was my horse..In fact does anyone ever know this when it comes to horse racing? Although as I eagerly waited for the commentator to announce the winners at the end, it proved picking horsed by names must be the best option as I had a nice few wins on the day. It certainly beat my last day at the races, when I had too much Pimms and somehow lost all my betting slips.

Overall the day was fantastic and the weather was defiantly on our side. I would like to say and a huge thank you to Branded3 and Ladbrokes for the invitation.

When the tan fades...

So today I'm bringing you a few more snaps from the wonderful city of Zadar and a yet again new favourite outfit of the day. As you will of noticed the "blogging calendar" has gone to pot recently, what with other engagements and mostly my laptop crashing here and there. I really need to invest in a new laptop, any suggestions?...comments below. Who am I kidding, I'm willing to "work" from a slow, over heating..burning my lap, laptop because, well laptop money doesn't exist in my world. Make up, shoes and tequila money, well that's another thing. Priorities apparently don't neither.

Ramble out the way, let's move on to Zadar, playsuits, ohh and those duty free sunglasses I mentioned previously. Duty free spending money is a given, because getting your hands on a bargain doesn't count neither.

Sunglasses - Ray-ban (duty free)

The playsuit is from House of Fraser, from their petite range. Now I would of perhaps consider myself petite say the beginning of May, but you all know I like to eat out as much as humanly possible and the two holidays in May wasn't exactly good on the waist line.

Yet I've recently realised petite clothing is much more aimed at height and better for generally smaller girls. I'm 5ft3.  The playsuit was a really nice fit. I previously found play-suits and jumpsuits a nightmare to buy, too long in the legs or size down and find the clothes riding up in places clothes have no business going, yet petite ranges solve this. It seems simple now I've realised yet I'm sure it's not just me who thought petite basically meant size 6 and teeny tiny clothing.

So my play suit problems have now been solved. Although the expanding waist line may take a little more work.

Now expanding waist lines in question lets move back to Zadar. No shocker I'm jumping back in with food. The whole food during the trip could not be faulted. A restaurant recommend to us by the staff at the apartment was Bruchetta. An Italian restaurant on the sea front.

For starter it's no surprise I opted for the mozzarella and tomato salad. Between you and me I didn't really want the tomato but it felt wrong to just pick out the cheese. The salad was fresh and I even enjoyed the tomatoes getting in the way, dressed with a light olive oil and black olives for garnish. Amongst cheese, olives are another of my weaknesses.

The main was fillet of beef, accompanies by ravioli (not sure there was any need for it) and roasted peppers, in a mushroom sauce. Portion size was impressive and the meal tasted fantastic but unfortunate even my eyes found the portions massive, amazing value however and Croatia is defiantly a city for the foodies.

As the sun set we relaxed by the sea organ and listened to the tranquil waves crash into the walls to create the most beautiful of melody. The sea organ isn't the most well know tourist attraction but unique and worth a visit.

Holiday blues are again kicking in and I actually have no holiday planned! Shocker! I'm thinking of aiming for a mini tour of Italy in the summer. Well I say mini tour I was thinking ideally two or three cities, although the more I try plan where to go the more cities I seem to add in. Zurich here and Salzburg there, a stop of in Munch... suggestions for summer mini breaks welcome.

Outfit of the day from Zadar, Croatia

Where has time gone. I was only in Zadar a few weeks back and yet the sun, sea and ice cream feels like it was all a dream. I guess it's defiantly time for more holiday planning. I might try make it a new rule that I always have a holiday booked to look forward too. For the the summer I'm trying to plan a mini tour round Italy but not too sure of any plans yet.

So anyway back to Zadar, after a nervous trip through airport security trying to cram all my make up and liquids into a plastic bag, too much money spent in duty free on some Ray-Bans and new Versace perfume, a rather traumatic Ryanair flight...I don't care what any says the noises from that plane engine were NOT normal. I finally arrived in the beautiful city of Zadar.

The days were filled with exploring, eating, relaxing, eating some more, drinking some more and general mooching about in the sun, soaking up the sights.

The old town of Zadar is filled with wonderful cobbled streets with hidden shops and local restaurants. The beauty of the place is really captured with ruins of ancient times mixed in with a modern city culture.

For a spot of sightseeing I decided my new white crochet dress from Apricot Online* would be a perfect match. A white dress will always be perfect to enhance a summer tan and the crochet detail is so sophisticated and girly. The dress was a great choice for the day, something simple yet elegant and most importantly light and cool. I couldn't resist pairing the dress with my new favourite blue suede shoes.

We stopped of at the local ice cream parlour for a well earned morning treat of ice cream. Actually who am I kidding, this was breakfast! I opted for a cherry ice cream sundae since maraschino cherries originate from Croatia.

After sight seeing a stroll around the harbour and a spot of light shopping, it was time for a late lunch. The food in Zadar feels a mix of Mediterranean and Italian with fresh fish, pastas and meat. Plus cheese...all the cheese!

Before long after a walk along the sea front and a dip in the sea it was time to retreat back to the apartment (for a power nap) to get ready to take in the evening night life.
